Responsibilities o Differentiate between patients in need of immediate medical attention and those with minor injuries/illness.
o Interview patients to secure and verify all pertinent admitting data.
o Enter patient data into CAMC's Central Computer System.
o Prepare the necessary forms in order for patients to receive diagnostic and/or therapeutic treatment.
o Assign beds based on the nature of the illness or the type of accommodation available.
o Sort, file, and distribute patient records.
Prepare and disburse admitting forms and related materials.
o Perform clerical and receptionist duties as necessary.
Escort patients and push wheelchairs.
Maintain a patient census log and prepare a statistical report monthly.
o Maintain equipment, lift boxes of supplies-printer paper.
o Notify the Police or Health Department for the patient as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact) The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.
Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in:
1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.
Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.
