Tooling Engineer

Our client is a privately held, mid-size manufacturer supplying the automotive market with medium to high volume, stamped metal components and welded assemblies. In business since 1968, they have multiple locations throughout North America. We are looking for a Tooling Engineer with a positive attitude at our plant in Portland, TN (just north of Nashville). Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will ensure reliable tooling processes to the Production Department, on-time to the schedule that meets or exceeds our quality requirements while working within a set budget.
Typical Duties
Physically work on tooling, tooling related problems and assist toolmakers with troubleshooting
Delegate troubleshooting and die maintenance responsibilities in a clear and concise manner
Assist toolmakers/Apprentices and staff to make decisions for long term solutions
Address problems and implement solutions to improve efficiencies, process, product flow, safety and quality
Use AutoCAD for updating and making prints
Work closely and cooperative with other managers, team leaders and staff
Report quality, production or safety issues to the Tooling Manager
Establish tracking system to grade all tooling vendors for quality and delivery and document all findings as required
Document changes to include detailed prints and/or procedures to dies
Track results as die repairs, modification and improvements are made
Maintain assigned set of dies from initial design review through production
Stock for spare parts to ensure available stock of tooling components
Quoting and purchasing replacement detail according to budget
Purchase spare parts, die sections, supplies as needed
Be involved in continuous quality improvement efforts Job Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Certified Class A Tool & Die Maker
Minimum 5
years' experience in a Tool & Die field
Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience
Minimum 3 years stamping experience (automotive preferred)
Minimum 3 years computer (PC) experience
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and other drawing software experience
Knowledge of TS16949/ISO14001 a plus
